Unforgettable both inside and out

The Royal Hotel is the latest addition to Southworth Development’s expansive Machrihanish Dunes resort. Located in the west of Scotland, Machrihanish Dunes is rich in history and natural beauty. It is also home to the world’s most natural golf course, which can be played against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.

Guests can enjoy stunning harbour views from the Black Sheep Pub, elegant Harbourview Grille or from the comfort of one of 23 sumptuously appointed bedrooms. The McMillan Furniture team worked closely with Southworth Developments in an 8-month project to refurbish all bedrooms and public areas within the development.

The recent achievement of Tripadvisor’s Certificate of Excellence award is just one indication of the fantastic experience visitors of The Royal Hotel can now expect.

The project in a nutshell

23 bedrooms, 22 uniquely designed items and over 200 pieces of furniture;
this is our project in a nutshell.

The property Situated on mainland Scotland’s most westerly point The Royal Hotel is a part of the Machrihanish Resort development and just a stone’s throw away from the Firth of Clyde – Britain’s deepest coastal water.

The brief Working directly with the Machrihanish Resort operator Southworth Developments, we were tasked with supplying and installing all furniture, fittings and equipment for the hotel’s bedrooms and public areas.

The scope With 23 ensuite guestrooms, bar and Harbourview Grille restaurant, the Royal Hotel was similar in size and scope to the Ugadale that McMillan Furniture also helped deliver as part of the Machrihanish Resort development.

Technical design Interior designers Alison Van Dijk and Estelle Mitsopoulos were tasked with creating the concept for the Royal Hotel with the McMillan team responsible for producing all working drawings and sample pieces.

Manufacture and procurement We managed every element of the manufacture and procurement process - working closely with our supply and manufacture partners across the globe to source furniture of both excellent quality and value.

Installation and management Having been selected as a supplier for this project because of our ability to provide well-managed logistics in a remote Scottish location, it was fantastic to be able to deliver to a tight installation schedule and to the client’s satisfaction.

“For our hotel renovation projects in a remote Scotland location, we needed a furniture vendor that we could rely on for high quality goods, well managed logistics, and an installation schedule that meshed with the needs.”
