The project in a nutshell

22 bedrooms, 20 uniquely designed items and over 200 pieces of furniture;
this is our project in a nutshell.

1

The property The Ugadale is a stunning 22-bedroom property that overlooks the famous Machrihanish Dunes links golf course. The hotel originally opened its doors in 1898 and has long been recognised as the premier luxury resort on the west coast of Scotland.

2

The brief Working with Scottish designer Alison Van Dijk and US based designer, Estelle Mitsopoulos, McMillan Furniture was tasked with manufacturing, supplying and managing the installation of casegoods for The Ugadale's bedrooms and spa area.

3

The scope The Ugadale has 22 bedrooms comprised of classic rooms, superior rooms and large open-concept ‘Suites at the Ugadale’. It was within our scope to deliver all furniture, fittings and equipment for these rooms and for the property's Serenity Spa.

4

Technical design Designers Alison Van Dijk and Estelle Mitsopoulos were tasked with creating a concept that complimented the traditional and luxury style of the hotel. The McMillan design team then produced all working drawings and sample pieces for the project.

5

Manufacture and procurement Working with both local and international suppliers, McMillan managed every element of the supply chain during the manufacture and procurement stage of the project; ensuring rigorous quality standards were met and all products were delivered to the client’s lead times.

6

Installation and management Our project managers took care of every element of the refurbishment project and liaised closely with both Van Dijk Design and Southworth Developments. We managed our installation teams, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the process to ensure that project ran to schedule.

"McMillan Furniture provided a first class product, at an extremely competitive price. The furniture was to be in a very traditional style for both hotels, and the pieces were finished in walnut with burr inlays. The finish was just fantastic."

"The McMillan team produced all the working drawings so we could tweak dimensions and style to suit the requirements of the building. They also provided sample pieces which were delivered to my Client in the USA for approval. "

- Alison Van Dijk, Van Dijk Design -

"The fit out of both hotels ran very smoothly indeed with the McMillan Furniture installation team working to my drawings and schedules"

- Alison Van Dijk, Van Dijk Design -

"I arrived on site to find everything exactly in the correct place and all we needed to do was tweak the exact positions of the headboards to finish the rooms. My client is absolutely delighted with the end product and so am I."
